Sports Massage Therapy
Massage has become an integral part of today’s sports athletic programs. Whether you are a biker, hiker, climber, swimmer, or enjoy dancing, yoga, racquet sports, or like going to the good old fashion gym, a sports massage will benefit your exercise program. All exercise activity requires stretching your physical limits through movement.
Sports Conditioning Phases
Tearing Down
Pushing the physical limits involves sore and stiff muscles especially when you are just beginning. Deep tissue massage is suggested to increase blood flow, limit trigger points, and assist the body’s release of toxins.
Recover
Important for the rebuilding of inflexible muscles and soft tissues that have been tight or perhaps injured. Orthopedic massage sessions are key during this stage in order to restore muscle strength and prevent injury. Lymphatic massage is also suggested to flush the system and accelerate the body’s recovery time.
Build-up Phase
The body’s system will adapt to new demands put upon it when it is flexible and has less potential for injury. Becoming tone through strengthening all biomechanical muscle groups correctly will establish an optimum exercising base. Using a combination of therapeutic massage and orthopedic session is suggested at this stage to maintain and continue muscle structure.
Sports massage can:
- Reduce the chance of injury
- Improve range of motion and muscle flexibility
- Improve power and performance
- Shorten recovery times between workouts
- Enhance elimination of metabolic by-products of exercise
